The “Majarete”

Majarete (Photo: Margarita Persico)

It is believed that the “majarete” originated in Spain. In the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela the majarete is a dessert, though my mother also made it for breakfast. Cooks in countries such as the Dominican Republic and Latin America use corn meal for their majarete. Venezuelans use wheat and Puerto Ricans use rice flour. Tropical Smoothie

Tropical Smoothie (Photo: Margarita Persico)

Tropical Smoothie (Photo: Margarita Persico) This is a quick and easy breakfast or snack. Just three ingredients and water or juice of choice. I also like to add my supplements such as calcium to this mix. I don’t like adding anything that will be too strong and change the taste. To this smoothie I added calcium, milk thistle and an enzyme. When in a rush, I rather use coconut flakes. For other smoothie recipes, check here . . . → Read More: Tropical Smoothie Tropical Smoothie

So I concocted tofu ricotta using my then new Cuisinart food processor. It was a hit! Lactose intolerance happens when a person cannot digest and absorb the sugars in milk. But with this . . . → Read More: Tofu Ricotta for Pasta or Baked Zitti Tofu Ricotta for Pasta or Baked Zitti
