Along with Malia and Sasha, President Obama on November 26, 2014, pardoned the National turkeys, Mac and Cheese. Seriously. Cute names for turkeys! Right? President Obama assures that this would be “the most talked about executive action this month.”

The pardon occurred the day before Thanksgiving. And it made many animal activist and me happy.

“It’s important to know that turkeys have always had powerful allies,” said President Obama. “… Benjamin Franklin once wrote: ‘I wish the Bold Eagle had not been chosen as representative of our country. He is a bird of bad moral character. The turkey is in comparison a much respectable bird.’”

These two turkeys will live the rest of their lives in Virginia on 10,000 acres of roaming space.

President Obama says he enjoys pardoning the turkeys because after a stressful job, “it’s great to say Happy Thanksgiving.” This afternoon the President along with his family went to a food bank to deliver turkeys. He emphasised this is a time to appreciate and give thanks for what we have. Enjoy the movie and Happy Thanksgiving. And let’s be grateful always. As my mother would say, “Thanksgiving is everyday.”
